The Cigar Butler is a unique addition to Habanos. A connoisseur who is passionate about his profession, Marin Sararu provides a high quality service to cigar addicts who love to listen to his many stories about cigars, the making process, the origins and the flavors.

Habanos offers a wide variety of the worlds best cigars, from Cohiba to Montecristo. Marin prepares them according to the guests’ tastes, using a Puncher or Scissors to cut, then marinating the cigar in brandy to soften it, finishing with the correct lighting technique.

The Cigar Butler goes from table to table with his cigar trolley proposing an extensive range of cigars from many origins, sizes and flavors. Guests may select a cigar from the menu or directly form the humidor; Marin will then prepare and present it correctly on the ashtray. Upon request from the guest he will cut and light the cigar.

An innovation of the Cigar Butler at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha is to marinate the cigar in a spirit. The first step is to choose the brandy or liquor that has a flavour to match the chosen cigar’s specific aromas; “For example a coffee flavored liquor would make a perfect match with a full bodied cigar whilst a Single Malt spirit would be exceptional with a medium bodied cigar” says Marin. To marinate the cigar, he first dips the cut edge into the selected spirit, and then brushes the body of the cigar with the same spirit and burns it with a match in order to dry it. The cigar is ready. Te Butler lights it and makes sure it is properly lit all the way around for the complete pleasure of the guest.
