Wie Habanos SA meldet, hat die Polizei in Costa Rica Habanos-Fälschungen mit einem Verkaufswert von über einer Million Dollar beschlagnahmt. Die Verdächtigen stammen gemäss Diario Extra aus Italien und Russland. Die falschen Habanos wurden mit Tabaken aus Nicaragua und der Dominikanischen Republik hergestellt.

On July 17, 2013 in San José, Costa Rica a counterfeit Habanos seizure took place in several business premises by the Agents of the General Crimes Section of the Judicial Investigation Body of the Attorney General’s Office.

Zudik Hernández, lawyer who represented Corporación Habanos, S.A., declared to DIARIO EXTRA that the seizure of counterfeit Habanos of several brands reached the commercial value of more than 1 million dollars.  Costa Rica is the number one in the counterfeiting and sale of this kind of products, he added.
